Hogmanay

The last stage of Marigot's refit involved jacking up the vessel onto her port side, supported on blocks which enabled us to work safely on her remaining starboard side between tides to complete the work.

Not one to be intimidated by a mere 40 tons, or the risk of being turned into a wee red river running to the sea, Callum Grant slowly tilts Marigot over towards Bob Richmond on the port side who is lowering his jack and packing at the same time as Callum raises his side.

Bob starts antifouling the starboard side.

One of three places on the starboard side where the canvas sheathing had been damaged.

The loose canvas was cut away and the edges reinforced with fiberglass resin.

They were then primed and then antifouling was applied.

Bob is still doing the antifouling - the rest of us moved onto other tasks days ago.

Chris burnishing the scuttles. His lunch, the large black pudding behind him was devoured later.

Can't photograph the starboard side, so here's another one of her portside.

Peter pulls off the masking tape, finishing the starboard side.

Putting her back again to lean onto her starboard side again prior to floating her off. The wind had got up enough by now to require a translator standing in front of the bow passing messages between each side.

The polystyrene tree trunk was a great joke. You might think that this actor was carrying something heavy.

No photographs of Marigot leaving the slipway unfortunately - we were all otherwise occupied, but she left safely and is now in Tidal Basin en route to Victoria Dock where work will commence on her topsides.
