They always seem to build their nest too far down the slipway at neap tides. To avoid drowning the entire project they then negotiate with Davy Anderson who agrees to move the nest a bit higher up the slip with his forklift. Yes, they actually build the nest each year on top of a wooden palette....(?!)

Exercise with Broughty Ferry Lifeboat - Wed 11th June

First, we had to break down.... then they had to break down.. and while we did this, the poor guys in the rib really had to jump into the water. .

Help, we've broken down.

Och Bob, jist let them do it. They know what they're doing.

It worked. We're moving.

The Skipper's just announced that this is the fastest we've ever travelled.

Saving fuel is the "new black" for us - a Low Carbon Footprint.

Haha. Now you've broken down have you? Leave it down to us chaps. We'll save you.

At the heady speed of three knots we find it difficult to draw breath.

Andrew still pretends to steer. Hang on though, isn't the wheel somewhere over to the right a bit? .....We think he's pulling on the handbrake instead which is not fair.

It was a fine night, great light and smooth water.

The next part of the execise was to prevent our casualty, Mick, from sniggering.

That's better. Much more convincing. (He has a wee snooze).

Wake up Mick. Whats your name? How many fingers is this?

(Some of us were gleefully expecting the full treatment for Mick with those electric pads that would really make him jump...Stand Clear... WHAP!  etc. but alas... it was not to be.)...

....Huh. We'd have used them.

Och, just let him go. We're hungry and it's late.

Meanwhile, Piglet avoids contact with Marigot.....

...but not for long. We're cold and we need a laugh.

Susan brings Piglet easily alongside Marigot.

However easy you find this manoeuver, it's best to keep your eyes open when coming alongside a moving vessel.

Ray held station and didn't cry at all.

David does likewise

In fact no-one was spared. Trish comes in on the port side.

Training over, Piglet goes off to catch Marigot's ropes.
