Training - Sunday 5th Nov.
Training on three vessels - Marigot, Badger and Piglet with Piglet initially on tow - deployed west of Newburgh. Wind - force 5 westerly. Route - Dundee to Perth
Piglet was towed under protest - from Piglet.

The large expanse of water belies the fact that most of it is too shallow for safe navigation. Training on Badger concentrated on the precise pilotage necessary for a safe passage from Dundee to Perth. The sky was already unusual...
Crossing another vessel's wake at speedwithout undue drama was practised on Piglet. This was one of the earlier attempts....

The North Channel around Mugdrum Island is navigable with care but it's rarely used nowadays. Piglet explored it anyway. The oblique perspective on this cloud shadow made it look like the sun was higher than it actually was.
Looking away from the setting sun these cloud shadows give the illusion of a simultaneous sunrise towards the east.
The sunset lasted for ages on account of unusually high cloud layers. Marigot's navigation lamps can just be seen in the distance.
