Large numbers of Bottlenosed Dolphins in widely dispersed small groups were seen in the Tay between the Horseshoe buoy and the Craig buoy from Marigot during the course of 4 passenger carrying trips.
This photo and the one below were taken from the bow as two dolphins rode the bow wave.
Waiting on the Pilot Pier for the first trip of the day
Callum is already aware that one is larger than the other, but that doesn’t stop us informing him.

One day I’ll get a better picture of a dolphin jumping in front of Broughty Castle. Until then..this’ll have to do.
Although excessively foreshortened by it swimming away from us this still shows the blunt snout of the bottlenosed dolphin.
Common dolphins were in the same location the previous week and they have much sharper beaks. They are also smaller and look a bit less like black puddings with fins, as they are also slimmer.
Close up of one on the bow. The streamlining of these superb creatures and the flawless design of their skin is demonstrated by the patterns in the flow of water along this one’s back.
This one’s either been in a fight or he’s been nibbled.
